happy halloween, witches

this year for halloween, some inner genius inside of me fueled by my overexcitement for holidays kicked in, and i thought of theee most amazing halloween costume for me and my favorite sister, anna liz.

thing 1 and thing 2

oh but it didn't stop there.
according to my mom, we're too old to go trick-or-treating, so we rented a TANDEM BIKE and rode it around the neighborhood in our thing 1 and thing 2 costumes.

we're basically neighborhood legends now.

oh, and to understand how truly amazing this was, you need to know how our neighborhood is on halloween.
we have maybe 20 kids in our neighborhood, maybe?, but my parents pass out more than 700 pieces of candy every year! 700 PEICES (1 per child of course, we have to ration)
our neighborhood is the place to be.
-there is a guy that dresses up like santa and gives out ice cream cones,
-a couple guys that make haunted houses out of their porch,
-some people dress up like witches and give "brew" or homemade rootbeer.
-and countless random rich old people who like to get really into it and give out king-size candy bars.
-oh, and then there's these two girls that dress up like thing 1 and thing 2 and ride a tandem bike around and throw out candy,
oh wait that's me.

yep, for lack of better words, my neighborhood is the hot shiz.

and what's halloween without mummies and blood, amiright?

happy halloween, snitches witches

i played with the piano guys, nbd

the piano guys where in town this weekend and needed some backup violinists, so they hit up the squad. it's fine.
we actually only played one song with them, but it was still theeee coolest experience.
they are sooo genuinely funny and friendly. they are also incredibly talented.
during one of our sound checks, one of the guys just started  randomly singing and the other two joined in on the piano and cello. it sounded so good we thought that for sure it was rehearsed, until he started rapping about stuff that was happening right then like "all those backup violinists over there" and what not. it was probably one of the highlights of my life so far, not gonna lie. it was a very one sided rap battle though, because my only comeback was a fierce face and the "rock on" sign. whoops.

one night, i even got to have a slightly one on one conversation with john, the piano guy, about the #face2face they did earlier in the week. also, i may have whispered "your sons are hot" when he shook my hand after going off stage one night. no biggy. we're buds.

all claims to fame aside, the actual playing part was really fun too. i was front and center (perks of being short) and you already knooooow i had the time of my life. it's been a while since i've performed on that stage and i was surprised at how comfortable i was, even with 2000 people watching me.. especially the 2nd night when i was a little more used to it.
maybe i'll just keep going on tour with them and become the first girl in a band called "the piano guys", who knows. HAHA.
i can dream, right?

(i got my leather jacket so that means i'm in the band by default, right?)

FALL TUNES

it's fall, which is awesome,
but hey, don't exit yet, because this is not your basic white girl fall appreciation post.
i won't tell you my favorite latte at starbucks or even post pictures of me wearing flannels and jumping in leaves and stuff, but there is one thing that is truly a fall necessity.
a good fall playlist.
there's no way around it. it has to be done.

fun fact of the day: music sounds better in the fall.
(don't believe me? have your 4th grade little brother do it for his science project or something)

fall and music go together like caitlyn and bruce jenner…. but they're  the same person you say?
exactly.

so, without further sarcasm, let's get this party started…
except for heads up cause this playlist includes much more than just party music.
here we have everything from frank ocean to the spice girls to vampire weekend..
my taste in music may be a little out of handily diverse (is that a word?), but as my fellow music lover hannah montanna once said, it's the best of both worlds.
actually, it's the best of all the worlds.

**favorites of the favorites

the gambler - fun
the first time i heard this song, i cried. real, salty, tears from my ducts.
if you listen to any of the songs on this playlist at, first of all, you're pure gold, second of all, make sure it's this one. it's kinda mandatory. it deserves it i promise.

**gone - jr.jr.**
this song makes me happy….. and that's what music is for.

vienna - billy joel
billy joel music is the essence of class. plus this song is great for those super stressful days, for example when you're trying to get your grades up really fast at the end of 2nd quarter. oops.

**work this body - walk the moon**
I LOVE THIS SONG
perfect for car dancing or fist pumping or anything in between.

heart like yours - "if i stay" soundtrack
first of all, this movie is the best thing that's happened in the 21st century.
second of all, props to you if you can keep your composure through this song.

com on eileen - dexy's midnight runners
before you listen to this song be no one is around to see your involuntary head bopping.
it's irresistible, really.

slow dancing in a burning room - john mayer
no chill playlist is complete without this song.
john mayer's voice is more beautiful than the whole cast of high school musical combined.

wannabe - spice girls
this song deserved to be listened to very loudly with an abundance of teenage girls in a black suburban who are into things like singing really loud and embarrassing dance moves and stuff. not like this is a confession or anything…

stars go blue - tim mcgraw
this song is so good it's therapeutic.
you'll like it, even if country music usually disgusts you. i promise.
(for maximum soothing effect: listen to at moderate to high volume in your car with a pretty view of the city lights or stars)

sushi - kyle andrews
i hate sushi, but i love this song… the backup music is super catchy.

white sky - vampire weekend
LONG LIVE VAMPIRE WEEKEND. THEY ARE PURE GOLD.

at home - crystal fighters
just an all around, good fallish song that makes me want to become a filmmaker or travel or something ambitious like that.

if you listened to any of those you deserve to take a picture of your boots in the leaves and get an overpriced hot chocolate. isn't fall the greatest?

CONFRENCE IN THE CANYON

this sunday for we drove up to our little condo in brainhead. the leaves are absolutely stunning up there right now, and the weather was beautiful as well, add conference into the mix and it made for a perfect weekend.
and i mean i guess this song added too... who knew classical music could be good?
shoutout to you, bach.

"yes, i will punch you if you mess with my bike gang"
cause having a leather jacket automatically means you're in a bike gang, right?

HOMECOMING YAYA

HAHAHAHA
school dances are such a big deal in utah and i love it. homecoming was soooo fun!
when i got asked it took me 3 HOURS TO FIND THE NAME. that's right, for 3 hours, i had no idea who was taking me to the dance. ummm,,, ya i don't have that kind of patience.
shoutout to you, william welch.

sidenote: i also discovered i was allergic to hay.

BUT IT WAS WORTH IT
we looked great and had an even greater time.
class and sass and stuff

"put your hand on his jacket" wut

here's to high school dances and winning day-date scavenger hunts and broken toes and random bruises from mosh pits and stuff.
